13 weeks left to go!

I really should have started this as soon as I found out I was pregnant, but you know... life got the better of me, and with doctor's appointments with the endocrinologist and the OB going on (and work!), well. That didn't leave too much time on our hands.

But on with the show!

Here I am at 22 weeks (during a trip to LACMA on May 31, 2011):

Now I'm at 26 weeks - and according to the What to Expect website, my little bambina is now as big as a cucumber (15 inches long and weighs about 2.2 lbs and can jump about 25 feet in the air if she wants to). Baby Mineo is a girl, and we are going to name her Sophia Nichole... I expect her to be as sassy and active like her parents!

I am so grateful to all of my friends and family who have supported Angelo & I in this fantastic journey.  We will definitely post more pictures and write more as we progress.  13 more weeks seems like forever but it's creeping up on us really fast!

Well, it's time to go eat.  We'll catch you on the flip side!

An update on Officer Larson!

From an email sent to me from my friend, Officer Larson:

"Friends and Family,

As always I would like to start off by thanking those of you have been able to donate to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society as we race for a cure for blood cancers! So huge thank you goes out to:

Jim and Erna Worden
Jake and Meredith Worden
Karen Buchanan
Doug French
Richard and Ruth Larsen
Becky Stevens
Jeff and Rebecca Woodman
Tamee MacKay
Kim Towfigh
Gina French
Tim and Carla Larsen
Steven Barnett
Aurora Lampson
Kacie Kanemoto

Training continues! Most of the team will be leaving us next week as they run the Huntington Beach “Surf City” Half Marathon. About 10 (in Orange County) of us remain to continue training for the LA Marathon on March 20, 2011.

This weekend we ran a mere 8 miles! A walk in the park compared to the 14 we ran the week before! We do start to ramp up from here on out as we get closer and closer to race day! In the next 4 weeks we will be running 14 miles, 16 miles, 18 miles and 20 miles. We are less than 6 weeks out from race day!!!!

I would like to thank everyone who has been sending me words of encouragement and keeping up with my training on Facebook. For those of you who keep asking….no….I am not crazy….they test for that prior to training!

I can’t begin to thank those of you have been able to donate on my behalf to LLS. Your money is going a long way to helping those with cancer and finding a cure! If you have been meaning to donate but just haven’t yet you still have time! The race is March 20, 2011. But why wait until the last minute. Donate now and scratch one more thing off of you to-do list! You will also be one step closer to getting a better return on next year’s taxes as this is a good tax deduction!

The team LAPD numbers are dwindling as the training and commitment has proven too much for about half the team. It is a huge commitment and a lot to take on! I am sure my wife will attest to this and be glad when the marathon is behind us. In the mean time, I must fight on and finish strong!

Thanks for your time!
Philip Larsen"

Any help is greatly appreciated; even a great word of encouragement is welcome for all he's doing.

Thanks!!!

"I hope this e-mail is reaching you in good times and health!

As for me, I'm training to participate in the 2011 LA Marathon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training and Team LAPD. When I joined the LAPD 4 years ago, I was looking for a challenge as well as an opportunity to make a difference in people’s lives. Over theses past 4 years I have not been wanting for a challenge and I feel as if I had made a difference in people’s lives in many ways.

In true LAPD fashion I am faced with yet another challenge and another chance to make a difference. Team LAPD is training for and will run in the 2011 LA Marathon to honor and support members of the LAPD family who are facing the fight of their lives with cancer. I will highlight their efforts more in the near future.

Many of us have been affected by cancer. We all hope and pray that those fighting cancer can beat it. We all wish there was something we could do to help.Well, Team LAPD gives us all a chance to help. As a runner I am working to raise money to help those with cancer and hopefully get us one important step closer to a cure. You can be a part of that effort as well.

By donating to this cause you are giving hope to those fighting cancer. You also give hope to the families of those battling cancer.

I hope you will visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. I also post my runs up on my Facebook page. Thanks for your support!

If you can donate please go to my web page.

Also take a look at the Team LAPD page.
If you can't donate please send a message of encouragement!
Thank you for your time and attention.
Officer Philip Larsen"

Testing out the blog from Android Phone

So. Here we are.

A new form of technology taking over. And to think: if someone told me that we'd be emailing people from our cell phones and browsing the interwebs on said devices i'd look at you like you grew horns outta your head.

Yet, this is so.

Let's see how far this'll take us!

Until next time,

-Lizette

January's weather

Don't get me wrong, I love SoCal's mediterranean weather. What I can't stand is the flip floppyness of the temperatures.  Any time the weather would change, my dad would always say, "I'm allergic to the temperature change". I thought he was serious when I was little; now I realize he was trying to be funny.

Today is, for all intents and purposes, my favorite kind of day. It's windy, there's plentiful sunshine, and it's warm. A perfect summer's day. Here's the problem: it's effing January. We have to have cold days. Cold snaps. Rainy days. None of this is in the immediate weather forcast! I should be so lucky and not complain. But I am. So I'll stop. :)

Anywhoo. I'mma gonna enjoy the weather now.

See you soon,

-Lizette

Friday, 1/14/11

Hello Friday!

Two weeks into the new year and I'm still wrapping my mind around 2010, wondering what I've gotten accomplished. Which it turns out, quite a lot.

My husband and I are 3 quarters of the way done with tiling the downstairs, quite possibly the hardest thing that we done since owning a new home. That were getting by and things are looking up is quite a miracle in and of itself.

Right now the weather is quite balmy and quite nice to my liking, I can't believe it's january still! So I guess I'll celebrate by taking a nap.

1 of my new years resolutions is to communicate more and let people know where I stand, but doing so in a nice way. There is no sense in being mean when trying to convey an idea or feeling I have. let's see how far this can go!

Okay time to go. I'll catch you on the flip side.
